Stages of Deterioration.

         In these five photographs I wanted to capture different types of objects that deteriorated and the course of nature takes over. These photos also explore a variety of textures that I thought were interesting. The photo series starts out with subject matter such as metal, that is meant to last for many years, and then gradually moves into organic objects. Also, each photo is at a different stage of that object deteriorating. The first photo is a picture of an overall scenery. Nature taking over and the garage is conforming to it’s surroundings. The second picture is of a metal swing set, but instead of capturing the whole thing it only shows the top, which is deteriorating and conforming to  the environment. The third photo is just a small part of a rusty metal bumper that is slowly rotting away. Next the fourth image is a bunch of bananas that are starting to rot away.  Lastly the fifth image is of pink flowers that are in the process of withering away. The organic objects that deteriorate can no longer be used, unlike the garage, metal swing set, and metal bummer.

I chose these photos, because the Bulls are one of my favorite teams in the NBA. I got to enjoy this game with my Grandma, since she was in town. This series showed two teams that played hard throughout the whole game. It was a very close game, but the Bulls came on top. I think these players bring joy to their fans, and I believe that's the whole experience. A lot of the players were very friendly, I actually got to talk to the players while they were on the bench, they having a conversation with me and laughing through out the game. I hope a lot of you enjoyed my pics, and hope you fans of the Bulls.

In my series of images I wanted to explore the word "left". As in being left behind, leaving. In my first image I have a straightforward interpretation of this concept. A figure walking away in the distance. My second image I realized on accident, while waiting across from the school, I looked up and saw the graffiti, and it dawned on me that the person that wrote it left it there for someone to read. My third picture was taken about an hour out from Petoskey, Michigan on a weekend trip, we ended up going in reverse to get back to this tree that had hundreds upon hundreds of shoes on it, that people left there. My fourth image is of a child left behind, and all alone. My last image is a photo of a page in the book "The Lover's Dictionary", I thought that his definition of detachment embodied one shade of what it could mean to leave.

Sparkler Send-Off



These pictures are from our wedding a couple weeks ago. It was a very special day that we are glad to have shared with everyone. In the first picture, there is my son, Trevor, our flowergirl, Addie, and my mom. The second picture is of the famous words of the minister signaling our commitment to each other. The third is my dad, Jim, and I during our father/daughter dance. My dad is a big intimidating "biker-guy" and this is the second time I have ever seen my dad start to cry. He hates the fact that someone got a picture of it haha! The fourth picture shows the fun part of the reception. The bartender (who was the best ever!) laid a $100 on the counter from his pocket and told us to round up as many people as this would cover and the next round was on him! The last picture is our send-off. Since it gets dark early in November, we couldnt do the traditional rice or bubbles as no one would be able to see it. So, we used special sparklers made for wedding send-offs. It was definitely a night to remember!

My intention was to capture pets; my cats and dog in their home environment, and not staging anything. In this series, these photos capture (Persistence) my cat Maggie waiting to be let in from outside, (Interrupted) a moment where I was reading a book on the floor, my cat approached me and stepped on the page I was reading. She wanted my attention to be given food. (Lion) My cat Milo is shown relaxing in the sunlight and (Staying) my dog Rosie is waiting for my mom to come home from work. Another image (Evidence) shows a paw print on the window from my dog Rosie, showing that she had wanted to be let in at some point and had jumped up on the glass.

Photo series: The Unavoidable Avoidances 

       Many photographers take hundreds of shots of the same subject, striving to get at least one that is not blurry and completely perfect. In my personal opinion though, blurry photographs are as perfect as a photo can ever become. These blurry photos, that everyone desperately tries to avoid, are honest in showing how imperfect the world really is, which snaps people back to reality and out of their perfectionist state of mind. Due to my desire to show people that nothing is perfect, I decided to do a series of blurry photographs that everyone has seen hundreds of times before and has always tried to avoid. These shots consist of a person who does not want their picture taken and does everything possible to ruin the perfect photo that is trying to be captured.
